I had an appointment here today at 2 pm. Due to traffic holdup on A34 (I come from Wantage area) I arrived 20 minutes late. I was told I had been put down as a no show, despite actually turning up albeit late, and was told I would have to make another appointment. Despite saying I was willing to wait the consultant refused to see me. I had a 3 hour round trip for nothing. Not impressed.
Been here a few times with the kids and they have been exceptional, reading some of the 1 star reviews is laughable. Tonsillitis isn't contagious, it's a GP appointment and you should never have gone to a walk in. If you have serious eye injury a walk in centre is not for you. If you have the know how to get to the nearest hospital then it can't be too hard for you to find the nearest opticians. The opticians will refer you to an eye hospital if it's that bad.
Very impressed with the service, especially in the new venue.
I have been to the out of hours service here a few times in the last year or so, and a few times when it was located in a cabin opposite kwik fit before.It hasn't ever been exceptional, in fact it hasn't ever really been better than average, but my experience last night couldn't have got any worse.I called the NHS 111 line, and was given an appointment at 19.30, I arrived at 19.20. I was finally seen at 21.15. This was because there was a few people that just turned up with injuries, and didn't call the line to book an appointment. The reason I was given for my long wait, was that these people had been assessed as a worse case by the nurse.Apparently, a twisted ankle and a bruised hand is worse than highly contagious tonsilitis? So for 2 hours I was in there spreading my illness every time I coughed my lungs up. Another note, I don't think children should be allowed in here unless the appointment is for them.
I can't rate this place highly enough. Took hubby as a walk in. He had a scratched cornea and bruised eye. We were seen quickly, the nurses were helpful and very friendly, giving great advice.
